UDM Model 1000 Switch Update Instructions

This update applies to all Ultimate Detailing Machine Model 1000 polishers through serial number 11199.  On these polishers, the on/off switch button is too large, which may cause the machine to switch on if the button is bumped.  To avoid this situation, the button needs to be replaced.

The procedure takes about 3 minutes.  You will need a small, flat head screwdriver.

STEP1: Unplug your Ultimate Detailing Machine.  Failure to do so could lead to serious bodily injury.

STEP 2:  Remove the original on/off switch.  To remove the button, use a small, flat edge screwdriver and gently pry the button up.  The best technique is to slide the screwdriver under the read edge, then turn the screwdriver 1/4 turn.

NOTE:
The switch is easiest to remove when in the forward ("ON") position.  A thin blade screwdriver works best.  No not force!

STEP 3:  Slide the front cover forward.

If the handle is attached, remove it.  Use a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry the side of the cover up and forward.  Repeat on the opposite side.

Next, use your thumbs as show to push the cover forward about 1 inch.  It is not necessary to remove the cover completely.

STEP 4:  Insert the new switch.

The switch slide mechanism should be in its forward most position.  If necessary, use your small screwdriver to push the slide forward.  Next, put the new switch button in place and push the post down  into the hole in the slide.

Pushing the button post into the slide will cause the slide to push down.  To make the two parts snap together, you will need to use your screwdriver to bring the slide up to the post.  The two parts will easily snap together, but firm pressure must be applied to the button.

Once you have the button firmly seated on the switch slide, push the cover back into place and reattach the handle.
